{"product_id":"9781948765299","title":"Architecture as Measure","description":"\u003cp\u003eThis book considers what architecture can contribute to a new imaginary of the contemporary environment, in light of climate change, beyond environmentalism and technological determinism. It explores whether architecture can be a measure through which the environment might be imagined, viewing climate change as a cultural and political ideology that needs a renewed architectural environmental imagination. It argues that climate change has yet to be conceptualized as a cultural and political reference for discourses on architectural imagination and presents unconventional intersections between architecture and climate change that address broader concerns of the city, the environment, and geography through specific architectural questions like form, representation, and materiality. It includes projects and case studies by the author's architectural practice NEMESTUDIO, showing how the Anthropocene destabilizes distinctions between the natural and artificial as they relate to architectural thinking, as well as destabilizing the relationships between the natural and artificial by addressing the decelerated and stretched conceptual relationship between the material and the representational by revealing the politics of their making and the techniques used. Chapters consist of essays and projects related to problems of climate change, including resource extraction, materiality, long time span, representation, geology, and waste, in architectural terms.
