Payment Process: Pre-Authorization and Final Billing
Payment Process: Pre-Authorization and Final Billing
When you place an order on our website, the payment is pre-authorized (held) on your credit/debit card. This means the amount will be temporarily reserved by your bank, but not yet charged. The actual charge occurs once we confirm your order and dispatch the available items.
Pre-Authorization Hold: As soon as you confirm your order, your bank will place a temporary hold on the total amount, including any shipping fees. This is a pre-authorization and not the final charge.
Final Billing: Once we confirm the availability of the items in your order and begin the dispatch process, we will charge you the final amount based on the available items shipped.
Adjustment on Your Statement: If there are differences between the pre-authorized amount and the final amount (e.g., due to items being out of stock), your statement will be adjusted accordingly. You will be billed based on the shipped items, and the pre-authorization hold will be reversed by your bank for the difference.
What You Will See on Your Statement
Pre-Authorization: When you place your order, you may see a temporary hold for the full amount on your statement. This is not a charge, just a reservation.
Adjustment After Dispatch: Once we dispatch the available items, the hold will be adjusted and you will be billed for the actual shipped items. The difference will automatically be reversed by your bank within a few days.
For example, if you ordered 5 books but only 3 are available for shipping, you will be charged for the 3 books, and the amount for the 2 unavailable books will be released back to your account.
Why Does This Happen?
Stock Availability: We may process orders based on real-time availability. If an item is out of stock or cannot be fulfilled, it will not be included in your final billed amount.
Bank Policies: The temporary hold is set by your bank, and the reversal of the hold and final billing may take 7–14 business days, depending on your bank’s policies.
It may take several business days for the amount to appear on your online statement, depending on your card issuer’s internal procedures.
Credit Card Refunds: Usually take 7–14 days.
Debit Card Refunds: May take 30 days or more.
