Filled with true tales of the New York mob, with the most colorful characters of the era, from John Gotti to Don King to Frank Sinatra, making appearances throughout the graphic novel, at its heart, Last of the Gladiators is a love story. A love story between a father and a son.
Based on the acclaimed memoir by James LaRossa Jr., and told through his eyes, Last of the Gladiators is the story of how a young man finds his own identity and place in the world, while growing up the son of one of the most outsized and outrageously successful personalities in the history of New York City, a father LaRossa Jr. always called his "true north." In the end, Last of the Gladiators is the story of what it takes and what it means to become, and to be, a true man.
