The Girls and the Ghost (The Manor Mysteries)

Two cousins’ search for a hiding place in the family manor turns into a spooky discovery in this second book in the cozy historical fiction The Manor Mysteries series that follows two heirloom lockets through generations of the same family. Thea Beekman can’t wait for her cousin Peggy to visit America and be there when she receives the heirloom Dorothea necklace on her twelfth birthday, as is custom for every girl named Dorothea in the extended Linden family. But the trip is cut short when news arrives of the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. With talk of war on the horizon, Peggy is ordered to return home, but Thea knows the perfect hiding place to help her stay. A wing of Beekman Manor is rumored to be haunted, and as the girls explore, they find a hidden passageway and a trove of family secrets. What they find might change everything they thought they knew about their great-grandmothers.
